With heavy hearts, elected officials and staff of the City of Forest Acres announce the passing of a long-time public servant, unmatched in his influence on our community. JC Rowe worked in law enforcement in various municipalities from 1956 to 1994, culminating in his appointment as Chief of Police in Forest Acres from 1978 to 1994. His dedication to the City did not stop once he retired from the Police Department, though. In 1995, he was elected Mayor and held the position until he retired once more in 2003. Much of what makes our community a safe, desirable place to live, work, and play has its foundation in his many years of leadership. He also served as the Executive Director of the SC Police Chiefs’ Association from 1994 to 2011. For his numerous contributions to the City of Forest Acres and to the State of South Carolina, he was awarded the Order of the Palmetto in 2001. Chief Rowe will be remembered fondly and missed by many in the Forest Acres community.
