After 47 years of service, Councilman Shell Suber announced his retirement at last night's City Council meeting. The Mayor and Council thanked him for his exemplary service and wished him well on his deserved retirement. Mr. Suber offered the following in his letter of resignation:
Dear Mayor and Council Members:
It has been my distinct pleasure to serve on the City of Forest Acres Council these many years. I have been fortunate to work with dedicated council members since my first election to council in 1973. In announcing my resignation, it gives me great peace of mind knowing that the government of the City will remain in such capable hands.
Hopefully, I have been instrumental in preserving the quality of life in our great city and a special thanks to the residents that have supported me. Finding an urban balance of offices, shops, and restaurants while maintaining the canopy of trees has always been a challenge, but a worthwhile goal. Nothing makes me prouder than to state that my home is in Forest Acres.
This letter is to inform you of my resignation as a council member effective immediately.
Sincerely yours,
W. Shell Suber, Jr.
